Lake Sammamish Residence

Landscape architecture with stone steps, and pathway, as well as native plants

Lake Sammamish Residence

Transformation: This steeply sloped backyard was unusable except as a rough pathway down to the lake.  Planting and paving styles were haphazard and treacherous. Spaces were dark and cramped.  In response, the yard was terraced to create a series of patio spaces.  Wherever possible, light was let in – by removing particular trees, lifting the deck to meet the finish floor of the upstairs level, and using bright, reflective colors. Plants were organized from formal near the house, to native by the water.  The end result is a highly cohesive and usable waterfront property.
