This mid-century modern home, set in a lovely natural landscape with large, mature trees, was in need of some curb appeal and an extension of an old deck to capture and enjoy views out to the Sound.
In the front yard, a front porch large enough for a shared cup of coffee in the morning graciously extends out toward the front walk. The walkway was designed in bluestone with a soft, uncut edge to flow with the natural setting and native plantings. Many mature plants were moved to integrate with the plan, and a small rain garden helps to capture runoff from the street that otherwise flowed across the front yard.
In the back, an expansive new deck creates a great space from which to view the Sound on top and a fun, water-proofed game room underneath. The result is two very different and highly usable spaces that integrate well with the home’s architecture and addition.
