The owners of this sloped backyard needed more space for entertaining and enjoyment. A two-tiered approach works with the existing grade to create two patios and space for a water feature. Material changes create a unique character at each level.
A curved retaining wall breaks the straight lines of the square pavers on the lower patio. Multiple spaces were created on the lower level, accessed by doors from the kitchen. Lounge chairs fit neatly into a nook created by the retaining walls. Natural stone steps lead from the side yard to the main level and from the main level to the upper patio. The fountain uses a Filtrific system to recirculate and filter the water. The purple stone fount adds a splash of color to the patio.
